Common Mistakes Bloggers Makes | Manual Audit Website

What is SEO, and what are the common mistakes new bloggers commit. What is Keyword and how to do research? Also, we will discuss how to perform a manual audit for the website.

In this article, I will clear almost all of your doubts and tell you how to do it.

What are the keywords!!

Keywords are generally referred to as those words or phrases which we or any user over the internet uses to find a relevant website, blog, product, or service.

So if you are thinking of starting a website or blog of your own then hold on and read this article before starting. I will tell you how to do keyword research and what common mistakes people make when writing their blog pieces. So let’s start.

Before starting a blog, you should freeze your niche and research that profitable. Once you have finalized your niche, now it’s time to find low-competition keywords for your website. There are many tools available for keyword research. Many are paid, but there are some free tools for keyword research like Ubersuggest, Google keyword planner, etc.

People use short keywords in their blog, but I will advise you to Long-tail keywords instead. For example, “mobile phone” is a keyword but it’s a short tail keyword. Instead of a Mobile phone, you can use the ” Best mobile phone available ” or ” Best android phone in 2020″.

For keyword research, you can add a chrome extension to google chrome, and it will help you immensely to find the right Keyword for your blog or website.

The CPC and SD here mean cost per click and search difficulty. Higher the CPC better the keyword, and lower the SD it is better. It would help if you chose a keyword with SD 30 or less to rank your post higher and faster.

New bloggers tend to put too many keywords into their article but can have an adverse effect on your page ranking. So it is advisable to put 1 to 3 % of the total word count, called Keyword Density.

Keywords should be embedded in your first 2 or 3 paragraphs; using them at the bottom or middle of the article is a little or no help for your ranking.

Do you know even google gives you keywords for your niche!! Let me tell me how; when you search Google for your keywords, Google also results in the headline “people also ask.” In those, you can find recently asked questions about your niche. Copy details questions and put them on a word pad. Now open the website down the problem. On the website right click and click on the inspect now. You can find the HTML code there, now type control f and type keyword, and find the keywords that the site is using to rank high on Google. Copy all those keywords on the same Wordpad and use those questions and keywords in your article.

Note down your primary, secondary and tertiary keywords and use them accordingly in your H1, H2, and other headings subsequentially. Your primary keywords should be placed in your H1 heading, as that is the first thing anyone notices. The use of secondary and tertiary keywords is also important as they are mostly low-competition keywords.

Make your keywords bold in initial paragraphs so that google or your readers can quickly identify your primary keywords as I have done in this article.

Add a noun to your keyword to boost your search. For example, if the figure is your keyword, you can add robust or sexy to that to be more attractive and unique at the same time.

Register your blog in Google Analytics. It will let you know about your traffic—their age group, their sex, a region almost all the things. So, according to your traffic, you can write your content or modify the already published content.

I will advise you to ping your website regularly, like once every two or three days. It’s a kind of Red flag to the search engines that you have created a new post or a blog so that the crawler can come to your site and crawl.

Steps To Conduct Manual Audit of website

  1. Check indexed pages
  2. Perform a google search for your website or blog name
  3. See how many results are shown
  4. Is your landing page showing up as the first result?
  5. If your landing page isn’t showing up as the first result, there could be issues, like a penalty from Google or poor site arch/inter linkings that may be affecting the site.
  6. Is the content showing up?
  7. Are navigation links present?
  8. Are there links that are on-site, working?
  9. Do you have a custom permalink for every post? Use your keyword in Custom link.
  10. If meta title and description have been provided for every post?
  11. If the meta description length is too short or too long?
  12. Do you have images and animations where needed?
  13. Alt text provided for all images? Is it going with the subject?
  14. Is the image size too big or in a supported format?
  15. Is your site mobile friendly? ( Use this link to test)
  16. What is your average loading speed? Check in Google Pagespeed Insights.
  17. Does your site have a valid site map? Are the unnecessary pages blocked?

You can also perform a site audit by tools like Ahrefs or Moz, but there is no replacement for manual audits. these tools will show you the measure errors but small errors like ‘alt text’, ‘image description’, ‘permalink structure’ etc are only detected in the manual audits.
